Casa Chironja is a compound with five units in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The beach is three blocks away - you can walk down barefoot in less than three minutes to surf, kitesurf, kayak, swim, or simply dip in the ocean. Restaurants, bars, grocery, farm stands, are all within walking distance.
Bedrooms & Pricing:
Rooms are rented for a minimum of a week. Prices are lower if you commit for longer and/or come in low season. If you live with us for a while there is potential to become a member and pay much lower rent long term.
You can get a sense of who’s here and what goes on from our Instagram. In general, people work during the day, and enjoy work/life balance by socializing and exploring the island on the nights and weekends. Most of us have started companies. We are not a party house, but we often have people over for dinner, small concerts, lightning talks, etc. We care deeply about Puerto Rico and creating a home here that is a mix of locals, transplants, and visitors.

Apartments:
There are four apartments in the complex: two three bedrooms and two private one bedroom apartments. This is where the primary community members reside.
The cost per room includes all utilities (including fiber optic wifi, AC), two cleanings a month, common supplies like toilet paper & cleaning supplies, and access to common house resources. All rooms have a desk and either a queen or a king bed. The house operates on solar power and has a cistern so we are minimally impacted if there are grid issues.
Once you fill out the form at the link above, you should hear back from us within a week.
If we have availability when you’re looking, we do an initial screening call with one member of the community and then a slightly longer call or ideally in person visit with more members of the community to figure out if this is a good fit all around.
If yes, we’ll invite you to book and ask for a deposit of your last month’s rent or 50% of your stay, whichever is lower.
Once you send your deposit, we’ll block the room from booking by others.
If you don’t want to go through our vetting process / participate in community life, the apartments are also available to book directly on Airbnb at higher prices:
7 bed House Details:
NEW: the house is now primarily rented on Airbnb. If you’re a friend of the community, check availability there and message someone you know about direct/friends’ rates.
There’s fiber optic wifi (fast enough for 10+ people doing video calls at the same time), AC throughout, and a generator and cistern for backup power/water. There’s a desk per room and plenty of external monitors you can use in your room or leave in the coworking space downstairs.
Communal resources include two patios, a big communal kitchen, dining room, living room, projector, a yard with BBQ, two parking spaces, well equipped gym (squat rack, free weights), lots of sports gear (kite kayak surf snorkel bike tents etc), outdoor shower, etc.
